Feedback-driven HR: strengthening CHDR’s workforce
At CHDR, high-quality staff form the backbone of the organisation—making recruitment, retention, and employee engagement top priorities. Through employee surveys, onboarding processes, and exit interviews, CHDR continuously refines its human resource policies to meet the evolving needs of its team.
'Thanks to my predecessors, we have a strong basis in HR management,' says HR Director Christine van Andel, who joined CHDR at the end of 2023. ‘Now it is time to build on that and go the extra mile.’ One example is CHDR’s annual employee survey, which invites all staff to share what they value about their roles, as well as what could be improved. 'We aim for a high response rate, so we repeatedly drew attention to this survey,’ says van Andel. ‘Additionally, we shared what was done with the feedback our staff gave in previous years. Our approach was successful: more than 80% of employees completed the survey, and we saw a noticeable increase in satisfaction across many areas.'
The insights gained from the employee survey are implemented not only at the level of the entire organisation, but also at the level of individual departments. This increases involvement and ensures that changes are even better tailored to a department's specific situation. Van Andel and her team also focus on reducing employee turnover. 'We find it important that people who join us also feel at home here for a longer period of time. We therefore pay extra attention to onboarding and listen carefully to the feedback people give when they leave CHDR.' The culture programme also plays an important role in ensuring that staff feel connected, motivated, and proud to contribute to the organisation’s success.
